世界遺產「日光的神社寺院」是指存在於日本栃木縣日光市的神社與寺院的總稱，以9棟國寶和94棟重要文化財為核心，是日本引以為傲的文化遺產。這些建築據說是17世紀日本天才藝術家的作品，採當時最高水準的建築技術建造而成。
其魅力首先表現在日光東照宮和日光山輪王寺大猷院等極為華麗的建築裝飾。這些建築至今仍未失去光彩，歸功於繼承了傳統技能和技術的工匠，利用他們的知識與技藝，不斷地反覆修繕維護。這些「傳統建築工匠技術」於2020年12月被登錄為聯合國教科文組織無形文化遺產。
在本次展覽中，我們透過關注傳統建築工匠的裝飾技藝探索它們美麗的奧秘。他們以絢麗的「彩繪」和「金工」賦予日光神社寺廟無與倫比的奢華與輝煌，吸引人們探索它們美麗的秘密。這些平時只能遠觀的豪華建築裝飾世界以及傳統藝術的精髓如今近在眼前，請享受這個可近距離親眼目睹的機會。
